One of the most important government initiatives for motorists with a disability is the Motability Scheme. For over 40 years, the Scheme has enabled eligible recipients of selected mobility benefits to exchange this payment for a lease on a brand new car. The Motability Scheme enables those eligible for the Motability Scheme to get mobile by exchanging their allowance to lease a new car, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), scooter or powered wheelchair.
