Meet The New MG3 Hybrid

  • Published: 21 May 2024

Any new car launch is an exciting one, but when it’s an affordable hybrid model that is both efficient and satisfying to drive, then it’s really something to sit up and take notice of. This is a spot-on description of the all new MG3 Hybrid, which is being launched this year to appeal to the eco-conscious driver looking for a comfortable all-rounder that they can rely on.

If you’re anything like us, you’ll be excited to see what MG have included in this model; it's a brand with a growing legion of fans, and its popularity shows no sign of slowing. Here’s everything you need to know about this new MG release…

MG3 Hybrid design

The cute and compact size of the MG3 doesn’t equate to a compromise on aesthetics and aerodynamics; the smooth curves of this hatchback alongside that now iconic sloping MG bonnet give it a real presence on the roads. It’s been designed with a modern nod to the traditional hatchback too, with a taller roof.

It’s quite a change from its MG3 Hybrid predecessor, marking it out as a real upgrade.

MG3 Hybrid spec and pricing

The new MG3 Hybrid has two trim levels to choose from, both with reasonable affordability and a host of cool features.

Hybrid SE

It’s entry level, but not as you know it; there’s still plenty to get excited about on this model. Starting at £18,495, you get adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, autonomous emergency braking, Apple CarPlayTM & Android AutoTM, and a rear parking camera, amongst other interior and exterior features.

Hybrid Trophy

This trim level starts at £20,495; for this extra investment, you can expect some upgraded spec too. This includes everything you need to keep you toasty in the colder months - yes, a heated steering wheel and seats are included in the MG3 Hybrid Trophy. This is alongside a 360-degree camera for handy parking, blind zone detection assist, rear privacy glass, rain sensing windscreen wipers, and LED projector headlights.

Whilst in the Hybrid SE you get cloth upholstery, the Trophy model treats you to leather style upholstery with cloth inserts, as well as front map pocket for convenient storage.

MG3 Hybrid interior

Of course, it’s not all about the pretty face; the inside of the MG3 Hybrid is just as impressive as the exterior. If you’re familiar with the old MG3 Hybrid interior, this new one may surprise you - there are more than a few design references taken from the MG4. This includes a 7.0-inch digital driver’s display, and a square two-spoke steering wheel.

The MG3 Hybrid seats 4 comfortably, with room for a 5th passenger if necessary, making it an ideal small family car.

MG3 Hybrid entertainment

In all modern cars, you expect a degree of connection with the outside world whilst you’re on the move, and the MG3 Hybrid doesn’t disappoint. Both trim levels come with CarPlayTM & Android AutoTM, so you can listen to your tunes, take hands free calls, and access maps from the driving seat when safe to do so. There’s also the traditional Bluetooth connection available, as well as DAB Radio.

Both trim levels have satellite navigation with speed limit recognition installed as standard, so you’ll always have access to the right route.

MG3 Hybrid engine

Now, onto the heart of the new MG3 Hybrid. MG have combined a petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver a smooth and pleasant driving experience alongside economy. Not only is it perfect for city commutes, but it can manage long-distance journeys with ease too, helping you enjoy the best of both worlds. Whilst details are still emerging, there’s an expected 0-60mph acceleration in 8.0 seconds, which is not to be sniffed at.

MG3 Hybrid safety

The MG3 features MG’s Pilot Advanced Driver Assistance System, which means there’s plenty of safety tech included as standard. MG3 Hybrid drivers can therefore benefit from the following:

  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Driver Attention Alert
  • Intelligent Speed Limit Assist
  • Traffic Jam Assist (TJA)
  • Lane Keep Assist (LKA) with Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
  • Active Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Bicycle Detection
  • Hybrid Trophy owners also get Blind Zone Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
