Nissan X-Trail

The Nissan X-Trail is the type of vehicle that handles urban driving and off-road motoring equally well. This dynamically styled and practical SUV is solidly built, too, and comes very well-specified as standard.

Design

While the X-Trail undoubtedly possesses classy good looks, it’s more than rugged enough to handle less-than-perfect surfaces. The vehicle rides on light 18-inch alloy wheels that not only catch the eye but deliver quicker acceleration and swifter braking than their steel counterparts. The X-Trail features privacy glass, too, adding an extra level of intrigue, while roof rails offer plenty of load-bearing options. Speaking of the roof, this one opens with the simple press of a button, allowing you and your fellow passengers to take advantage of those times when the weather is playing fair.

Unlike some of its competitors, the X-Trail can comfortably accommodate five full-size adults; there’s even space for an optional third row, making this vehicle very suitable for large families. With five seats in place, luggage capacity stands at 565 litres; with all but the front seats folded, a 1,996-litre cargo volume becomes available.

Performance

Entry-level Visia grades are typically powered by a 1.6-litre 163bhp petrol engine. This manages up to 45.6mpg, produces CO2 emissions from 145g/km and delivers 0-60mph in approximately 9.5 seconds. The most eco-friendly option – available as standard with Acenta trims – is a 1.6-litre diesel unit. This 130bhp engine returns as much as 57.6mpg and produces emissions as low as 129g/km.

Safety and technology

This family-friendly SUV comes with a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and a host of driver aids and protective features. For instance, if the car ever starts to veer out of its lane, Lane Departure Warning will alert you, prompting you to make an instant course correction. The X-Trail also features a camera that provides a 360-degree view, ensuring that all-round visibility is consistently strong.

Audio entertainment is provided by a six-speaker stereo system. AUX and USB ports and Bluetooth feature too, the latter enabling audio streaming. Also included is NissanConnect, which includes a range of infotainment features, including navigation functionality
