How do I know if I'm eligible for the Motability Scheme?
As a leading Kia retailer in the East of England, EMG Motor Group are proud to be partners of the government-funded Motability Scheme. The scheme was created to help disabled drivers retain their independence by providing specially adapted vehicles, enabling them to remain mobile.
The Motability Scheme enables people to get out and about on the roads by exchanging their mobility allowance to lease a new car, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), scooter, or powered wheelchair.
To be eligible to join the Motability Scheme, you need to be in receipt of one of the following mobility allowances, and you must have at least 12 months' award length of your allowance remaining.
- Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
- Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
- Higher rate mobility component of Child Disability Payment
- War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
- Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
If you can’t drive yourself, it's not a problem. You can still use your Motability allowance to lease a car on the Motability scheme. The Motability worry-free package includes insurance for up to three named drivers, and this could include family members, carers, and/or friends.
